The Strong Right Arm

The Knights of Columbus are the "strong right arm" of the parish priest, helping with projects around the parish. The K of C was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney in 1882 at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT as an organization committed to Unity as a Catholic lay organization, Charity to those in need, and Fraternity with fellow brother Knights.

To be a KC you must be a male, at least 18 years old, and a practicing Catholic. There are more than 1.7 million members throughout the world. It is through these five key areas of service that the Knights of Columbus truly makes a difference.

1. Faith
2. Community
3. Family
4. Youth
5. Fellowship

We meet the first Thursday of the month September through June and have a family picnic in July. Our dues are $30 per year and a one time $10 initiation fee.

To get more information, contact the Parish office and tell them you want info about the KC's. A member of the St. Ben's Council #8337 will call you. Visit the K of C website.

To Raise Money For Our Works of Charity

The KC's have two pancake breakfasts each year and a fish fry during lent. The K of C also have a Tootsie Roll give away to raise money for the Special Olympics and other local organizations.

Other funds raised by the Knights are used for the following:

-- donating rosaries to the First Communion class
-- donating bibles to the third grade religious ed class
-- supporting a seminarian and the Bishops Seminarian fund
-- donating to the youth for their mission trip
-- treating the altar servers to a night of pizza and bowling
-- holding a soccer competition for all kids 10-14 years old
-- holding a "baby shower" each year to help the Lake Superior Life Care Center

To get more information, contact the parish office and tell them you want info about the KC's. A member of the St. Ben's Council will call you.
