United Catholic Appeal
Apr 30, 2018
Today I offer my words of “Pastor’s Ponderings” to ask your help with our parish efforts for a successful 2018 United Catholic Appeal. Your gift to UCA supports programs and services which benefit you, your neighbor, your parish, and people throughout the diocese. This year, our goal for St. Benedict's Parish is $59,601. To date, we have already collected just over $17,000 toward our goal.
Each year, one of our goals is to offer all members of our parish the opportunity to participate. We hope that every family will make a gift to this worthwhile appeal. It is only when we combine our gifts of talent and treasure that we can accomplish more to help each other.
I initially ask that you consider a pledge to UCA this year. I have no way of knowing how much you can afford to give. Only you can answer that question. All I ask is that you reflect for a moment on the gifts you have received and prayerfully consider what your response will be.
I was encouraged in 2017 by the end of year generosity to United Catholic Appeal by so many, as we came very close to making our goal from your direct UCA offerings. This year, I hope that many will join me in donating to UCA on a regular, monthly basis. I have already begun to make my gift to this year’s UCA. Through the electronic giving form (available both at our parish office and on our website, www.stbensduluth.org), or through the monthly UCA envelope (issued in our envelope system for the first Sunday of each month), I am hopeful that you will join me in making a monthly contribution to UCA so that we can meet and exceed our goal – which assists us in the next year.
For your convenience, we will be mailing to each household a pledge card and your gift envelope, along with a pamphlet that offers explanations of a few of the
important ministries that are funded by UCA. Please return it by mail to the parish office or simply place it in the collection basket next weekend. On behalf of all the
parishioners, families and parishes in the Diocese of Duluth who benefit from your generosity, I want to thank you. May God bless you and your loved ones for your
